Two hunt saboteurs have been subjected to a terrifying ambush orchestrated by thugs from the Devon & Somerset Staghounds.
The sabs were on a public road near North Molton yesterday when the assault took place. Thugs smashed up the vehicle and gained access via the sunroof, dragging one sab out. The other sab, filming from the road, sustained additional injuries as they were dragged over a barbed wire fence.
A particularly disturbing aspect of the pre-meditated attack was that all evidence-gathering devices – cameras, dashcams, bodycams, phones, and an iPad – were stolen by the thugs.
Emergency services, including a police helicopter, attended the scene but no arrests have yet been made. The injured sabs were rushed to hospital with one sustaining a broken nose and smashed teeth.
In recent months, Devon County and Mendip sabs, along with North Dorset sabs, have been at the forefront of an innovative campaign against the Southwest’s stag hunts, repeatedly disrupting the hunts, saving stags, and gaining ground-breaking drone footage of stag hunting in progress.
An HSA spokesperson commented,
“Hunt saboteurs across the country, together with our thousands of supporters, send our love and solidarity to the brave sabs assaulted yesterday. This cowardly attack is the all-too-predictable response of a gang of thugs who don’t like their sick past time being exposed. The Devon & Somerset Staghounds will quickly learn that violence has never deterred hunt saboteurs and that an attack on one is an attack on all.”
