Your company is the only route for importing live pheasant and partridge to the UK to be released and shot. 39,507,544 live birds have been imported since 2022, and 9,707,990 (‘nearly 10 million’) birds were imported in 2025. This could mean up to a quarter of birds who are bred for shooting each year arrive via Le Shuttle. Imported birds come from the south of France and parts of Spain. This means that journeys will take more than a day before newly born day-old chicks reach the UK.

You may not be aware, but there have been multiple exposes that have shown awful conditions in UK game farms. Such as violence between birds caused by stressful conditions, male birds kept in solitary cages for ease, cannibalism and hen birds being forced to lay to death

Dead birds on game farms are often disposed of improperly and burnt in the open. Not only is this illegal, but it also creates a public health risk by increasing the likelihood of the spread of diseases such as bird flu. Outbreaks of bird flu are common on game farms. Some have had multiple outbreaks, which are tidied up at the expense of the taxpayer. Game birds are released into the wild around the end of summer; the time when bird flu incidences begin to increase

Multiple ferry companies have already pulled out from importing live birds. we hope you will review the situation and do the right thing to join this boycott.
