National Trail Hunting Day in Tatters As ‘Host Pack’ Causes Pile Up

In just 24 hours the North Cotswold Hunt will be presenting itself as a shining example of a ‘trail hunting’ pack as it hosts of one of seven gatherings across the country for National Trail Hunting Day – an event dubbed Farcical Friday by the HSA.

Chaos in the Cotswolds.

However, the HSA can reveal that yesterday morning, the North Cotswold Hunt was responsible for a serious road traffic accident on the busy B4077 near Stanway in Gloucestershire. Eye-witnesses report that the pile-up was caused by a driver swerving to avoid a hunt hound on the road.

The hunt simply carried on regardless.

While several vehicles appear to be write-offs, fortunately the hound was unharmed and drivers escaped with no more than suspected whiplash. The hunt simply carried on after the incident with the huntsman continuing to draw hounds through the nearby Thrift Wood and Hailes Wood.

There is, of course, only reason that a hound would be on such a busy road – the pack were out of control as they searched for or hunted foxes.

A write-off after the pile-up.

An HSA spokesperson commented:

This appalling incident perfectly illustrates the deception at the heart of National Trail Hunting Day. The North Cotswold Hunt’s meet yesterday was held in secret and of course no MPs, PCCs or journalists were invited to attend as they hunted dense woodland and caused havoc to unfold. On Friday it will be different story as the North Cotswold will lay on a sanitised, pantomime performance of ‘trail hunting’ in front its ghoulish supporters and any invitees gullible or stupid enough to attend.
