Too Little Too Late: Countryside Alliance Try To Cut Ties With Coniston Foxhounds

Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people were horrified by the video shot by Lake District Hunt Sabs showing the Coniston Foxhounds digging out a fox and throwing her to hounds just last Saturday.

Since the video went live, the HSA has been inundated by people expressing their outrage and offering their support.

It was apparently an equally busy day yesterday at the pro-hunt lobby group the Countryside Alliance as they desperately tried to cut their close ties with the Coniston Foxhounds.

Up until 8:00am yesterday morning, the Countryside Alliance would have donated £50.00 to anyone nominating the Coniston Foxhounds when they joined the Countryside Alliance. Such a donation would have paid for a couple of the heavy-duty shovels the Coniston take out onto the fells to dig out foxes or, perhaps, it could have been put towards another terrier location device so they could continue to send terriers underground to attack foxes.

However, just after 8:00am – when the Lake District Hunt Sabs video dropped – the Coniston Foxhounds mysteriously disappeared from the list of hunts supported by the Countryside Alliance. This is far too little, far too late: the Countryside Alliance has a long history of supporting the fell packs and their CEO Tim Bonner was eulogising about them just a couple of weeks ago.

While normal people are thinking of the appalling cruelty inflicted on that fox, the first instinct of the Countryside Alliance is to try to save their own skin.
