Last week, as another season of illegal fox hunting draws a close, we highlighted the arrogant entitlement of hunts that allow their hounds to foul public areas.
In over sixty years sabbing hunts, we’ve yet to see a hunter use a poo-bag to clear up the mess.

Poskitt conceals the evidence of his crimes.
But what we do see – increasingly – is criminal fox hunters going equipped with rolls of black bin-bags which they use to bag up the disembowelled bodies of the victims.
One of the first such uses of bin-bags was recorded at a York & Ainsty South/Badsworth & Bramham Moor Hunt cubbing meet back in October 2020. Despite the best efforts of brave hunt sabs, two cubs were killed by the hunt, their mangled bodies stuffed into bin-bags carried by whipper-in and convicted stalker Mark Poskitt.

Since then, the black bin-bag has become as essential to modern fox hunting as the hunting horn or the whip. Nothing could more clearly show the criminal intent of these organised crime groups than the huntsman setting off for a day of so-called ‘trail hunting’ with a roll of body-bags stuffed into his saddle.

Yep, while the hunters are happy to let their hounds foul whatever private or public property they happen to be rampaging through, the only time you’ll see them clearing up is when their scooping their latest victim’s remains into a black bin-bag. No wonder Chief Superintendent Matt Longman – the National Police Chiefs Lead on Fox Hunting Crime – has called the current hunting situation “possibly one of the most farcical eras in criminal justice history.”
Only the Hunt Saboteurs Association’s comprehensive set of proposals will be enough to stop the hunters in their tracks. You can read our proposals here.
The government has launched a public consultation on Trail Hunting – this is our chance to stop cruel hunting for good. You can read the HSA’s guidance and take part in the consultation here. The deadline is 18th June 2026 – make sure your voice is heard.
