An important update from Lincoln Hunt Saboteurs:
“As most of our followers are now aware, Neil Burton – huntsman for the Burton Hunt – has been charged under Section One of the Hunting Act 2004 which prohibits a person from hunting a wild mammal with dogs.
Every week we witnessed Neil cast his hounds into thick, impenetrable copses and elephant grass fields where no trail layer could have possibly ventured. It was only ever a matter of time before we captured the footage that we have since handed to Lincolnshire Rural Crime Team, footage that has ultimately brought about the charge.
Throughout the 2023-24 hunting season Lincoln Hunt Sabs made the Burton Hunt our sole focus attending every Saturday meet that they had, and our persistent presence clearly ruffled some feathers within the hunt. Our social media pages are a diary of evidence proving that throughout the season, we were subjected to the all-too-typical hunt tactics of intimidation, including verbal abuse, assault, property theft and vehicle damage: all in a bid to allow huntsman Neil to flagrantly flout the law and continue hunting like it was 2003!
At the time of writing, we aren’t at liberty to discuss any of the specifics of the case, and we urge anyone reading to avoid making defamatory comments or speculating online as this could harm the case. What we can confirm is that the case relates to an incident that occurred last season and Neil is to answer his charges at Lincolnshire magistrates court on the 1st August 2024.
Again, we politely request that people remain mindful of the ramifications that online speculation may have for the outcome of this case and refrain from doing so.”
