The HSA has continually shared footage and information exposing the destruction and cruelty caused by the shooting industry. The extent of the persecution knows no bounds with badgers, foxes, corvids and all manner of wildlife being killed as the land is stripped of any natural balance just to appease those in tweed.
So, as is customary, on the 12th of August, coined the ‘glorious twelfth’ by shooters, sabs joined forces to stop them and save lives.
Upon entering the Yorkshire Dales, it quickly became apparent that North Yorkshire police were ready and waiting to try and delay and prevent sabs from achieving their mission. Sab vehicles were pulled over, and dispersal orders were quickly scribbled out, but sabs are not easily deterred and great teamwork and communication meant that some groups made it onto the moors where they prevented the Coverdale shoot from a day’s killing.
In frustration their main transport vehicle drove at sabs while the police were present, drawing attention to the fact that their vehicle had no tax, leaving the tweed clad sour faces to walk to a nearby farm to await collection.
As well as witnessing the sheer lengths the police will go to to protect this blood sport it was also glaringly apparent the extent of damage being done to the moors for this high money business.
The entire ecology of the moors has been altered to accommodate this industry with desolate and barren views stretching far and wide and with the UK reaching record high temperatures over the past few years, wildfires are becoming more common as the intensive management of grouse moors creates the perfect conditions for it to spread.
Without a doubt shooting isn’t just a blood sport, it is extremely detrimental to the environment, and the HSA will continue to expose it.
