Sabs silence guns on the Wemmergill estate

Hundreds of grouse were saved today (Monday 12th) as saboteurs from across the country headed to the North Pennines to stop the guns on the first day of the grouse shooting season, known by animal abusers as the ‘Glorious Twelfth’.

From early in the morning, a crack team of spotters scoured the many estates that litter County Durham and it wasn’t long before a shooting party was found on the Wemmergill Estate, close to Middleton in Teesdale.

The main contingent of sabs were called in, and after skipping their way onto the moorland at Lune Forest, confronted the shooters. A long stand-off ensued as it was made very clear to the group of bloodsport enthusiasts that no shooting was taking place today.

Durham Police showed their bias by falsely claiming that sabs were trespassing across the vast open access area but were ultimately ineffective in stopping the mass hit.

An HSA spokesperson commented:

“This action shows that the long arm of the HSA reaches far and wide and wherever bloodsports take place, we will sabotage them. We thoroughly ruined these wildlife abusers’ day and we plan to only increase our operations against the grouse shooters in the future. Huge respect goes to the many sabs who headed up!”
