Today the Hunt Saboteurs Association can exclusively reveal the full footage that led to the recent conviction of Stowe School Beagles Kennel Huntsman Philip Kennedy for killing a hare in November 2025.
This is the first step in our campaign to shut down this hunt.
The footage shows both the extent of the cruelty of the Stowe School Beagles and the catastrophic failure of safeguarding at the £47,000 per year school.
Unbelievably, Kennedy is employed as a ‘Games Coach’ at Stowe and the hare hunting shown in the video is essentially a PE lesson, just like the rugby and hockey that is also offered at the school.
As the video opens, unsupervised Stowe pupils are looking for hares in the open Northamptonshire countryside. On their return to Crockwell Farm, the hounds are put into a strip of woodland by the farm’s car park. The hunters are there for some time – they obviously know a hare is present – before the hounds flush the terrified animal out across the car park.
The pursuit continues through a larger wood, with Kennedy positioning himself on its far side in case the hare breaks cover. The video next picks up the last moments of the doomed animal: she sprints across open ground – closely pursued by the whole pack – before crashing into a fence. She is obviously gravely injured but limps on before being overwhelmed by the pack.
The hunters arrive on the scene, patting the hounds and exchanging congratulatory handshakes as the hare is ripped to pieces. Back at the hound van and Stowe School minibus, the celebrations continue.
With the hare hunting season about to begin we cannot allow this cruelty to continue: the HSA will shortly be asking you – our valued supporters – to take action.
