With the government’s consultation on banning trail hunting closing on 18th June 2026 – in just three weeks – hunters across the country are praying that you won’t find the time to fill it in.

The Cotswold Hunt, for example, really don’t want you to complete the consultation. They want to be able to continue their practice of burying live foxes so they can guarantee a hunt for their paying subscribers. In March 2023, hunt sabs at the Cotswold Hunt found a terrified, urine-soaked vixen stuffed in a sack and entombed in an artificial earth. The incident featured on Channel 4 News and included footage of the hunt terriermen stating that they needed to get the sack back as it would have DNA on it.

Fellow fox-baggers, the Seavington Hunt would also much rather you didn’t complete the consultation. In October 2022, their huntsman was convicted of tipping a live fox from a sack in front of hounds. Needless to say, the inadequate 2004 Hunting Act didn’t deter these committed criminals, and they were filmed hunting and killing another fox at their Opening Meet of the 2024-25 season.

The Beaufort Hunt – favourite of King Charles and Queen Camilla – will also be hoping you don’t find the time to complete the consultation. They are desperate to continue their practice of relentlessly hunting foxes across the Gloucestershire and Wiltshire countryside. Footage from Wiltshire Hunt Sabs of the Beaufort doing just this has repeatedly aired on Channel 4 News with their reporter branding them “serial killers.”

Finally, Ollie Thompson – former member of the Avon Vale Hunt and now back at the Old Berks Hunt – is praying you won’t fill in the consultation. If you do, you’ll be threatening Ollie’s way of life, which revolves around torturing foxes. He has been convicted of throwing live foxes to hounds and abusing fox cubs with terriers – but the current Hunting Act is no deterrent to him, and he really wants it to stay as it is.
There are hundreds of hunts like the Seavington, and thousands of sadistic individuals like Thompson who are really, really hoping that your voice as an HSA supporter will not be heard before the consultation close son 18th June 2026.
