A Cottesmore Hunt supporter filmed mowing down a hunt saboteur with her car pleaded guilty to causing ABH at Leicester Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Angela Jarrom, who was following the hunt at the time, received a six month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to do 100 hours of community service as well pay compensation to the injured saboteur.
The horrifying attack, which so nearly killed the Northants Hunt Saboteurs member, took place in October 2022 near the Leicestershire village of Knossington. As the sabs were keeping up with the hunt in the grounds of the Ladywood Estate, Jarrom was overheard saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll get them”, before jumping into the car – owned by ex-Cottesmore master Richard Hunnisett – and racing down the road, deliberately running into the sab at high speed. The impact knocked the sab into the air, who was extremely luck to avoid any life threatening injuries.
Showing no remorse, Jarrom fled the scene of the attack, hiding the vehicle in a nearby barn, whilst the hunt continued to chase foxes in the area.
A spokesperson for the Hunt Saboteurs Association commented,
“Violence runs through the blood of the hunting community. In a premeditated and vicious attempt to stop saboteurs from exposing the Cottesmore Hunt’s crimes, Angela Jarrom had no qualms about very nearly causing the death of one of them. And for what? So that her and her friend could get the opportunity to see a fox ripped to pieces.”
